The Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Gdańsk has been awarded the highest A+ category in the discipline of mechanical engineering, following the evaluation of the quality of scientific activity for the period 2017–2021. The assessment was based on three criteria: the scientific level, the financial effects of the research and development work, and the influence of the scientific activity on society and the economy. The A+ category was awarded for the period 2022–2025 and will remain in effect until the next evaluation of scientific activities is conducted.
The team, led by Adam Cenian, D.Sc., Ph.D., Eng., Associate Professor at the Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery, Polish Academy of Sciences, obtained a European patent claim in 2021 entitled 'System for the precise determination of crankshaft angular position for fuel self-ignition, especially in the cylinder of diesel engine using Langmuir probe'. The patent was granted to the Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery, Polish Academy of Sciences in Gdańsk, and to the company Energia.

The Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Gdańsk was honoured with the Energy Globe National Award 2015 for the implementation and coordination of the national project No. POIG.01.01.02-00-016/08, entitled ‘Model agro-energy complexes ....’, as one of more than 1,500 top ecological projects from 177 countries worldwide.
Professor Wiesław Ostachowicz with his team was awarded the 1st place in The Dragon-STAR Innovation Award.This prize is awarded for outstanding European-Chinese cooperation in research and innovation.
