An advantage essentially distinguishing hydropower from other electricity generating technologies consists not only in the emission-free generation of "green" electricity, but also substantial support of electrical power system regulation and widely conceived water management. These issues, and especially the technical means provided by hydropower installations for grid safety maintenance, are expected among the leading topics of this year HYDROFORUM Polish Hydropower Conference. The conference is going to debate on October 7-8th in “Perła Południa” (Pearl of the South) Hotel situated in the Valley of Roztoka– a mountainous creek joining Poprad river in Rytro, a well-known tourist resort in Beskid Sądecki mountain range. On October 9th a study visit to Rożnów Hydropower Plant and a boat round trip on Rożnów Lake is envisaged. The purpose of the boat trip will be sight-seeing location of the planned Rożnów II Pumped-Storage Power Plant. As in the previous years, the conference is organised jointly by the Polish Hydropower Association (TEW), the Szewalski Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery of Polish Academy of Sciences (IMP PAN) and the Polish Association of Small Hydropower Development (TRMEW). Organisation effort is actively supported by TAURON Ekoenergia Sp. z o.o. – owner of the Rożnów HPP. Further information is available from our Conference Bulletin.
