Mr Pawel Malinowski was born in 1981 in Bielsko-Biala. He studied computational physics at the University of Gdansk in years 2000-2005. In 2005 he obtained his M.Sc. degree form the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics. The title of his thesis was "Numerical calculation of double well energy levels".

In November 2005 he joined the Mechanics of Intelligent Structures Department group at the Szewalski Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery in Gdansk. In 2011 he obtained a Ph.D. title in Mechanics from the same Institute.

His current scientific interest is focused on Lamb wave-based damage localisation in aircraft skin panels. He works on development of signal processing algorithms and experimental methods of damage detection and localisation. He ivestigates the phased arrays techniques for Lamb-wave based Structural Health Monitoring.

Pawel Malinowski works on the use of piezoelectric elements for natural frequencies and mode shapes investigation of various structural elements, for example compressor blades. He investigates the topic of vibration energy harvesting and vibration damping using active elements.

Pawel Malinowski is a coauthor of a patent application entitled "Method and device for damage localisation in structural elements" (ref. no. P 386233).

He reviewes articles for Journal of Sound and Vibration and Smart Materials and Structures.
