A New Approach to Predicting Pressure Drop in Two-Phase Flows

Abstract

A method of deriving analytical formulas for local values of friction factor R and void fraction φ in two-phase flow has been presented. Use has been made of the experimental values of these coefficients, as given by Martinelli and Nelson for water flow. On the grounds of the theory of similitude a way has been proposed of applying the derived formulas to the calculation of the pressure drop in two-phase flows of media other than water.
