  1. Title: Integrated Sustainable Waste Management System (WASTEMAN)

    Description: The project involves 6 partners from 3 Member States countries: DK, PL, LT and 4 associated partners. The partners represent sectors: scientific and research institutions (Institute of Fluid Flow Machinery Polish Academy of Science, Aalborg University), waste management companies (Bofa and Ekodolina), communes and municipalities (Administration of Taurage District Municipality, Nowa Karczma Commune). The overall idea of the project is to facilitate the transition of the waste management sector from linear to circular economy by implementation of Integrated Sustainable Waste Management System (ISWMS).
  2. Title: Model Nutrients Reduction Solutions In Near-Coast Touristic Areas (NURSECOAST/II)

    Period: Part 1: 01.10.2020 - 01.12.2021  Part 2: 01.01.2023 - 31.12.2025

    Description: Wastewater (WW) discharged from the near-coast Baltic tourist regions, often from very small treatment plants (TP) (<2000 Person Equivalent, PE), is characterized by a large variability of flow due to seasonality. Such conditions make it difficult to continuously obtain the required effluent quality parameters and may endanger the overall quality of the touristic place and satisfaction of the clients. Finding a different WW technological solution especially adapted to tourist areas would reduce the nutrients inputs to the sea across the BSR. The clear challenge is the ADAPTATION TO HIGH SEASONALITY
  3. Title: Carbon driven energy equilibrium at the municipal scale (ENERGY EQUILIBRIUM)

    Role: Partner
    Description: To compensate the variability and non-controllability of seasonally generated renewable energy (RES) (daily fluctuations in solar radiation intensity, wind speed, etc.) development of sufficient energy storage infrastructure in the regions will play a major role in transforming RES supply potential into reality.
  4. Title: Preventing massive marine waters chemical pollution from the leaking wrecks and munition (BALTWRECK)

    Period: 01.07.2022 - 31.10.2022
    Role: Leader
    Description: The objective of the main project is to contribute to reducing pollution of the Baltic Sea by munitions, hazardous fuel and other dangerous remains of shipwrecks by jointly developing, demonstrating and implementing national wreck management programs. This includes developing the (1) efficient wrecks diagnostics methods, (2) in-situ and ex-situ remediation technologies for hazardous fuels from wrecks as well as munition/weapons and explosives, (3) testing the developed solutions in at least 3 pilot locations and (4) examining the toxicological risk for marine ecosystems caused by dumped munitions and hydrocarbon deposits.
  5. Title: Fostering waste plastics valorisation supported by transition in consumer behaviour for better recycling and circular economy in the South Baltic (PLASTREC)

    Description: To increase the waste plastics valorisation by: (1) to introduce new collection/recycling techniques of waste plastics in the retail chains, (2) to develop the system of waste plastics logistics aiming at further manufacturing them into valuable products, (3) to develop the technologies and techniques for the valorisation, (4) to develop the system of waste plastics logistics aiming at final recirculation of plastic in manufactured products back to the retail chains, (5) to provide a long-term transition in consumer behaviour for better recycling and circular economy in the South Baltic. Main project proposal submitted.
  6. Title: Low temperature district heating for the Baltic Sea region (LowTEMP2.0)
    Duration: 01.10.2020 - 31.12.2021
    Role: Leader
    Description: The project LowTEMP aimed at making the district heating supply in the partner regions more sustainable and promoted the installation of so-called 4th generation district heating networks. These systems are characterized by the transfer of lower temperature heat in optimally insulated pipes with reduced pipe dimensions. At the same time, multiple heat supply options are possible in these systems, i.e. the use of waste heat from industrial processes as well as renewable heat sources like geothermal and solar-thermal.

  8. Title: Action for Energy Efficiency in Baltic Cities (Act Now!)

    Description: Act Now! - this is the call for improving energy efficiency in public and private buildings by enhancing the capacity of decision makers.
    The international project of the same name has been launched in Bremerhaven in February 2018 with a kick-off meeting of 37 participants from 18 partners in the Baltic Sea area.
  9. Title: Optimization of the Heat Exchange Process in Hybrid Photovoltaic-Thermal Devices (PVT) Liquid Glazed and Unglazed, Research and Development Project of the Provincial Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Gdańsk

    Description: This is a project financed by the Provincial Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Gdańsk aimed at increasing the efficiency of photovoltaic panels.
  10. Title: Public Energy Alternative (PEA)
    Duration: 2010 - 2012
    Role: Partner
    Description: PEA is a project partially funded by the European Union. 21 partners participate in it from 6 countries (Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland) from the Baltic Sea region. Project participants working together with experts from various fields of science, they will try to show where there are potentially the greatest opportunities to save energy.

    Description: The aim of the project is to stimulate the development of the Baltic Sea region in terms of rational/sustainable use of bioenergy, taking into account the aspect of competitiveness of the region, territorial integration and the overriding concept of sustainable development.

  1. Title: Development of technologies for rational management of bovine shavings from leather processing (MIZDRA 2.0)

    Role: Leader
    Description: The goal of the MIZDRA 2.0 project is to develop, in cooperation with three scientific unit ( Institute of Technology and Life Sciences – Poznań branch, Wroclaw University of Technology), rational waste management scenarios to solve the real-case problem, where significant amounts of industrial bovine waste from leather processing industry are produced at BADER Polska LtD. - industrial partner. Through the project, first the biological methods will be developed, resulting in the following products: collagen hydrolyzate, fat, biogas, digestate, purified digestate, fertilizers. In the second stage, thermal methods will allow to obtain such products as: briquette enriched with recovered fat, pellets, biochar (from combustion), biochar (from pyrolysis), mineral fertilizers.
  2. Title: Development of a bioremediation method for oil deposits from Baltic wrecks - microbiological tests and the first prototype (BIOREMOIL)

    Description: The subject of the innovation is both a product innovation (a device developed for the purpose of aerobic bioremediation of petroleum pollutants on the seabed) and a process innovation (aerobic bioremediation method adapted to anaerobic conditions on the seabed) of at least a national scale. The innovation is the use of aerobic decomposition of petroleum substances on the seabed where oxygen-free conditions occur. This forces the use of innovative technology to provide aerobic bacteria with aerobic conditions in an oxygen-free environment.
  3. Title:Development of technology for processing municipal, agricultural and other organic waste into fuels and fertilizers in an innovative biorefinery in Polish conditions (BIOREFINERY)

    Description: The basic task in the field of environmental protection required from bioeconomy entities, production and food processing companies is to reduce water consumption and sewage disposal, emission of odors and pollutants into the air, and waste generation. The investor wants to launch a biogas plant combined with a biodistillery.
  4. Title:Pre-treatment of waste substrates for fermentation - plant construction and process investigation (INDUSTRIAL PhD)

    Description: Fermentation processes from waste biomass are an important step in innovative circular economy methods. The effect of these processes can be fuels (biomethane, biohydrogen, bioethanol) as well as bioplastics, e.g. polyhydroxyalkanoate. The efficiency of the fermentation process depends on the type of waste substrate as well as appropriately selected methods of pre-treatment, e.g. in order to break down complex sugars into simple ones. The aim of the project is to develop energy-efficient and economical technologies, including the construction of installations (machines) for pre-treatment with particular emphasis on thermal-pressure and chemical methods.
  5. Title:Utilization of poultry waste from farming and the industry in order to produce biogas used as a source of renewable energy and mineral and organic fertiliser
    Project RX-15/19/2017 financed by the Provincial Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Gdańsk.

    Description: The aim of the project is to develop a concept of technology that allows the management of waste and manure from the poultry industry in order to produce biogas as a source of renewable energy and fertilizer. This project are consistent with the Regional Strategic Program Eco-efficient Pomerania 2020 - priority 1.3 regarding increasing the use of energy  from renewable sources. The Program provides for support for biogas installations in which organic waste from agricultural food production are used.
  6. Title:Research and development of the methane fermentation process and the utilization of digestate reducing the impact on the environment based on the implemented installation of an agricultural micro biogas plant in Lubań.

  4. Title: Biogas for Pomerania

    Role: Organizer
    Description: The meeting was focused on agricultural and waste biomass utilization, biogas installation and cogeneration. This event privided an opportunity international eco-energy cluster interactions and it was create the face-to-face meetings between various biomass market actors, including investors and producers. Meeting was held under the auspices of the Marshall of Pomorskie Region.
